• Be careful with the category in Hungary: I have often seen owners of large SUVs or vans choose the wrong category. Check the official vehicle classes on the portal ematrica.nemzetiutdij.hu before completing your booking.
• The 60-minute rule: If you accidentally drive onto the motorway without a vignette: In Hungary and Slovakia, you usually have 60 minutes to register the toll. In Slovakia, you can do this quickly via the official portal eznamka.sk.
• Toll-free lanes in Italy: Never enter the yellow “Telepass” lanes without a transponder. If you are unsure, use the blue lanes for card payment. Information on tariffs can be found directly at Autostrade per l’Italia.
